Join Our Dynamic Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Team!

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of critically ill patients? Our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a fast-paced, innovative environment where we provide state-of-the-art critical care to children and adults with congenital heart disease. With over 750 patients cared for each year, our unit is one of the largest and most technologically advanced in the western United States.

As part of our team, you will work alongside 19 highly qualified Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who share a passion for pediatric cardiac intensive care. Together, we bring over 90 years of combined experience, focusing on areas such as research, VADs, and the care of neonates and chronically critically ill patients.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will:

  • Conduct pre-rounding and develop individualized care plans for patients.
  • Present cases during rounds and implement agreed-upon plans.
  • Perform essential procedures, including intubation, line placements, and chest tube management.
  • Engage in hospital-wide opportunities such as clinical ladder participation and APP councils.

What We’re Looking For

We seek team players who thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Graduation from an NP program accredited by NLNAC or CCNE.
  • Pediatric cardiac and/or ICU experience (highly preferred).

Working Conditions

Our CVICU is a 29-bed unit with plans to expand to 36 beds. You will be part of a collaborative team that includes attending physicians and fellows, ensuring a supportive and educational atmosphere.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • For Physician Assistants (PA):
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Graduation from a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
    • Licensure as a PA in California and certification by the NCCPA.
  • For Nurse Practitioners (NP):
    • Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
    • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in California and certification as an NP.

Compensation

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role, with a typical range of $89.80 to $109.44 per hour . Your salary will be determined by your education, experience, and skills.
